Southwest Turkey Burger
These Southwest Turkey Burgers feature unique and refreshing flavors. Top them with an egg for an extra serving of protein!
Ingredients
1 lb lean turkey, ground (93% lean) (We used Bowman & Landes ).
1 egg (We used Outward Farms).
Directions
- Prepare guacamole and goat cheese.
- Light grill and allow to heat to 400-450⁰F. Dissolve the baking soda in 1-2 tsp of water and add to ground turkey in a large bowl. Then add spices, egg, breadcrumbs, and lime juice to the mixture in the bowl. Combine and mix thoroughly while being careful not to over mix. Divide the ground turkey mixture into 4 equal patties and coat with an even layer of PAM spray on both sides. Let rest for a minute and take this time to brush off the grill grates. Place patties on the grill.
- Grill patties 4-5 minutes on each side, until the internal temperature reaches 160⁰F. While the patties are grilling, brush the bread lightly with olive oil and toast (on the grill or broil in oven). Place goat cheese in a glass or metal bowl and allow to warm beside the grill (or microwave briefly). This will allow the goat cheese to soften and spread easier. Once the patties are done, remove from the grill and allow to rest for a few minutes while you prepare the fried egg.
- Fry the egg using a non-stick pan to your desired doneness. Use salt and pepper to taste.
- To assemble the burger, spread an even layer of goat cheese on the toasted bread and add an even layer of guacamole. Place the burger on the guacamole and add the fried egg on top. Bon appétit!
